Welcome to the world Kenzie Noelle!
I was getting close to being a week overdue and started wishing I hadn't told people my exact due date. We went to Kaden's blue and gold banquet for scouts and I got to hear many opinions about my 'predicament'. I still don't understand why everyone likes to rush things along when it comes to babies. I kept telling myself, "Yeah, I am huge and miserable, but my baby is healthy and happy and right now isn't the time to start acting selfish....I was the one that really wanted to be pregnant about 9 months ago and it will soon be over and just a memory. Savor every moment." The next couple of days went by slowly. We ran errands trying to get everything as ready as we could and waiting for her to decided that she was finally ready to make an entrance. Tuesday morning I felt different. I lost my mucous plug in the morning and so I called Randy at work to let him know that today might be the day! But, the day passed and no contractions. We went to bed that night and around two in the morning I woke with what I thought was a stomach ache. I tried to get my self back to sleep thinking that if I went back to sleep I would feel better in the morning. When it didn't go away and just got worse, I actually fully woke up and realized that this might not be a stomach ache. I woke Randy up at 2:30am and told him that I was in labor. We were very nervous (because of Dallin's birth) and tried to decide whether or not to go to the hospital. We decided to err on the side of caution and go to the hospital realizing we might get sent home. We got to the hospital around 3:30am. In triage, the checked me and I was only at 3cm. They decided to admit me anyway because of my past history of fast deliveries and because I need a round of antibiotics for my +GBS. The whole birth team was called in: Randy, my mom, his mom, Tatiana (my doula) and Jackie (who was watching the kiddos) was on stand by to bring the boys down to see their sister be born. I tried a few different positions for labor, but I labored mostly standing up. During each contraction, I would lean into Randy and he held me up. Randy did such a good job keeping me relaxed. Tatiana was such a big help to me and Randy. Randy was able to focus on me and not worry about anything else. I would definitely recommend getting a doula!!! She was awesome! Later in the morning I was checked and I was at 7cm. The doctor was called in. I was so happy that the doctor had made it for this birth! I felt my body moving from transition to second stage. The contractions were spacing out and were feeling different. At this point my water had not broken. The doctor knew I was complete, but I had no urge to push. She let me wait it out a while, but the urge was just not happening. I never had this happen to me before. Everyone had suggested getting up and moving, but I just didn't want to. They had me squat down and try to push to see if that would get things moving, but it didn't work. After some time had passed, I think Dr. Brass and nurses were getting a tad worried, although I wasn't. They suggested breaking my bag of waters and I consented. After Dr. Brass broke my bag of waters, I immediately got the urge to push. Jackie and my two oldest boys were then invited in to see the miracle. At 9:18am Kenzie Noelle Jones was born into this world!! She was 6lbs 10oz and was 19 3/4". She was healthy and perfect in every way! She was an eager nurser and I think she nursed the entire time we were at the hospital! The day after, the hospital staff came and whisked her away to the NICU because her blood culture had to begin to grow something (although they didn't know what it was, they thought it was GBS). After a day long stay in the NICU, we found out that her culture was contaminated and she was perfectly healthy. We were able to go home later that day.
